Community Arts and Science Day 2022 (CASD) is coming: Friday, May 20! We’re so excited for CASD to be live at school again. Our goals are to celebrate creativity & growth mindset and to have a great time! Our theme is “Mistakes are Opportunities for Creativity!,” based on the idea of growth mindset.
egg drop challenge
All students are invited to take the Great “Green” Egg Drop Challenge!
The Egg Drop is a much-loved, school-wide event where all students gather to watch & cheer as student-made “egg drop contraptions” are tested by dropping them from the roof of the main school building. The afternoon event is parent-powered.
We invite all students to design and create a contraption that will protect a raw egg from a large fall. Egg Drop contraptions will be constructed at home, and brought to school with students to their respective yards on the morning of CASD, Fri May 20. Egg drop contraptions are 100% voluntary, but we highly encourage everyone to get in on the fun!
The 2022 Challenge goal for all contraptions is to be 100% compostable! There’s a minor exception for small pieces of masking tape. Encourage your student/s to get creative, experiment, and use what you’ve got at home!
Great “Green” Egg Drop Challenge results will be posted the following Monday, May 23, inside of the front windows of the school.
egg drop rules
Your student may need your help to access the short online Egg Drop Lab Report where they share their contraption ideas. Online reports are encouraged, but feel free to print out a hard copy. Copies will also be available on 5/20.
Check out the full Egg Drop Challenge rules with your student/s to learn more about materials and size limitations. These rules will also come home in your child’s backpack at the end of this week.
English, 日本語/Japanese, Español/Spanish, and 中国人/Chinese translations available.
CASD Classroom Art
CASD 2022 will also feature teams of parents/guardians in each classroom facilitating an hour of art with Wendy Mac & DrawTogether in the morning! Volunteers will kick off CASD, share a 20-min interactive drawing video, and facilitate the awesome & easy Doodle Game.
